Patches recently spent a week with Cat and she very kindly made notes of her progress:-
Here is a summary of her week with us in Shropshire:
i rode her at all three allures on both circles and straight lines. She lengthens her stride after a while and once she is relaxed. She is a pretty amiable mare, very sweet in nature. She was ponied whilst riding my own horse and she understood the exercise very quickly. i rode her out on the hills of Shropshire with four other horses. She was surprisingly very sure footed despite her age and experience. We encountered sheep and although she was on the alert to start with she soon relaxed and the novelty wore off very quickly. She crossed a little stream of water like she had done it all her life. On my last day in Shropshire, i took Patches for an 1.5 hour hack by herself. She encountered more sheep, bike cycles and cars and she was fine with all of them. i opened a couple of gates from the saddle and although she was a little fidgety she quickly understood what was asked of her and was very compliant. i purposely rode her with a flag to improve her confidence and she was completely fine. She was easy to saddle. i rode her in a snaffle and although she played with the bit for the first 3 rides, she let it alone after that.
i hope you will find a nice home for this very sweet mare. If i know someone looking for a QH i would certainly send them in Patches direction. Thank you again Carla for having given me the opportunity to ride your lovely mare.
